Festival Eugénie

About this project

A new international festival for dance, music, and opera in Biarritz.

Festival Eugénie will launch in Biarritz, a city whose cultural identity was shaped in the 19th century by Empress Eugénie, who transformed the Atlantic coast into a destination for artists, thinkers, and European society. Her enduring connection to the region established Biarritz not only as a place of leisure, but as a site of artistic encounter and exchange.

Building on this legacy, Festival Eugénie is conceived as a new platform for dance, music, and opera, bringing together outstanding international artists and emerging voices in a carefully curated program. Spanning classical repertoire and new work, the festival places particular emphasis on practices rooted in the language of ballet while remaining open to its continued evolution across disciplines.

From its first edition, the festival is designed as both a space for presentation and creation. Alongside performances, Festival Eugénie will support the development of new work, offering artists the opportunity to create and premiere projects in an environment that encourages experimentation, collaboration, and dialogue across traditions.

At once intimate and ambitious, the festival seeks to establish Biarritz as a renewed destination for artistic excellence—one that connects its rich cultural history with a forward-looking international perspective.

Festival Eugénie is made possible through the support of those who believe in the importance of artistic creation and exchange. By supporting the festival, patrons play a vital role in enabling new work, sustaining artists, and contributing to a dynamic cultural presence in the region. We invite you to be part of this inaugural chapter.
